Let’s talk about cost. Show & tell style!
One of the first questions home owners want to know when they call our company is: How much does this hvac repair or installation cost? Although these are very difficult questions to answer, I will do my best here to explain some general pricing guidelines.
The purchase of hvac equipment and installation is much like the purchase of a vehicle or even a home. With so many options available, price ranges can vary drastically. Just as a Ford F150 can start around $30k with just a basic package. XLT models, which offer more features, are in the mid-$50k range. Once a shopper adds such items as high-end trims like the Raptor and Raptor R will have significantly higher prices, potentially reaching $70,000 and $110,000 respectively.
Considering that the average American sells or trades in their vehicle within the first five years of purchase, why do so many people focus on so many upgrades? The answer is…ding ding ding Because most people understand the importance of getting what they want the first time so they don’t have any regrets down the road. Because most Americans spend over 30 minutes a day in their vehicles, they want to make sure their vehicle will provide them with comfort, quality, longevity, and ease of use they’re looking for.
These same principles typically apply to most heating & cooling home comfort shoppers.
You’re going to use your hvac equipment every day for as long as you live in your home, and picking the right hvac system with the right quality and options the first time is critical to ensure maximum enjoyment and comfort with minimum maintenance. Because of this, most shoppers elect to get hvac equipment that will make them happiest in the long-run.
Unfortunately, some people only focus on the initial price of their repair or installation with the goal of finding the cheapest contractor, therefore sacrificing low-maintenance, quality, warranty, and features, which inevitably leads to regret. Especially considering that unlike a vehicle, hvac equipment cannot be traded in if one is dissatisfied and disenchanted.
For our lowest priced example of $4,898.00 let’s take a look at the needs of Dawn in South Salem.
Dawn called us to see how we could help her daughter’s bedroom maintain temperature.
The first option we looked at was a Mitsubishi 9,000. BTU Ductless Head. The second option we looked at is the Samsung AR09 one to one Ductless unit which turned out to be $1,000. less than the Mitsubishi.
Samsung is a newer product we brought into the community and it’s been well received.
The features and reliability are pretty equal with both units so it really comes down to price and that $1,000. savings is a no brainer!

For our mid priced example of $14,717.00 let’s review Larry who lives in South Salem.
Larry called us wanting a new A/C and furnace installed as his old units were on their last legs.
Together we looked at new 14 seer A/C and furnace units that were comparable to his old units. We also looked at Trane 14 seer A/C with a 98% gas furnace. Then we looked at the 14 seer York A/C and a 97% efficiency gas furnace.
He ended up installing the York HH8 3 ton heat pump and a 98% gas furnace. This dual fuel system allows him to use his back up heat as gas versus the electric. Getting a better bang for his buck at the end of the day with its dual functionality.
Some of the main deciding factors on choosing such a great system was the $2,000.00 tax credit incentive qualification. Also,a promotion we ran for this system that included a 2 year maintenance program where we’ll visit Larry twice a year for free. Plus York provides 10 year labor for free and is one of the only companies that covers refrigerant.

For a higher priced example of $33,183.00 let’s see what Michael from northwest Salem chose.
Michael called us out to install brand new systems in his home. One system handles the upstairs while the other system handles the downstairs.
He wasn’t exactly sure of the route he wanted to go. So together the options we looked at first was to replace only one unit. But considering the age of both of them the confidence of the older unit lasting beyond a year was low.
For equipment options we looked at lower tier York heat pumps along with York’s higher efficiency heat pumps. Eventually comparing those to the Mitsubishi smart multi heat pump system. Which fit his desired options of controlling both units from his phone anywhere in the world.
After weighing several options Michael moved forward with the…
