There are air purifiers that oxidize molecules through a catalytic process and then disperse those molecules. That process can have the added advantage of surface disinfection. There is also ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI). This is where the system uses a lamp to emit UV-C, which is a germicidal light. All of these approaches have different strengths, and you do have the option of combining two or more of them.
How do Whole-House Air Purifiers Work?
An important consideration for whole-house air purifier installation is treatment volume. The industry approaches treatment volume differently depending on the type of filtration. Manufacturers rate oxidizers and UV lamps by square or cubic footage.
